As a kid, all I could think about was being a mechanic. I thought a mechanic was more cool than a top gun pilot. I'd go with my dad to the shop to get his Ford worked on and I would watch the mechanics work, it would impress me so much!
Years later I was working in a Ryder shop and loving it. Other mechanics would think I was crazy but every now and then I would find a mechanic that would feel the way I did about our jobs. I know you could stop the airplanes for a day, stop the boats for a day & stop the trains for a day and nothing would happen but a little irritation. But if you stopped the trucks for a day our country would grind to a stop! There would even be chaos. So I believed that my job was very important. So to this day I always keep the wheels rolling. And it has always been fun for me. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt & sometimes it gets tiring but it is important to me. Look around, everything you see has been on several trucks just to get to where it is now.
Think about it. The raw material was hauled to processor to turn it into a usable material. Then the usable material was hauled to a place to turn it into a part. Then the part was hauled to a plant to turn it into what you see now. Then it was hauled to a store or warehouse for you to buy. Then you multiply that by the many parts to make it. I'm proud to be involved in keeping all of that moving!
